The starting point of this ride is Al Rajif village, located only 20km (12.4 mi) from Petra and with an altitude of approximately 1,600m (5249ft) above sea level. This means you can expect a spectacular panoramic view overlooking the mountains of Petra. Yet, due to its location, it is also a major wind path near the Jordan Rift Valley.
We finish at Mr. Abu Sabbah Bedouin's tent in the Humaimeh al Abbassiah region. Humayma, before known as Hawara, was founded in the early first century by the Nabataean king Aretas III to serve as a trading post. However, the region is known for the Abbasid Caliphate, the third succeeding caliphate after the Islamic prophet Muhammad, and claimed to be the true successors of Prophet Muhammad by a closer bloodline. The Abbasid Mosque is a clear milestone of that era that remains today.

This 44km (27.3 mi) intermediate-level route includes some serious off-road downhill sections! We start from Al Rajif village, where we will take the bus up to a panoramic view of the Petra mountains. From there, an off-road will take us through the mountains, crossing Dlagha village and down to one of the few organic Bedouin areas, Humayma Abbasseyah. Abu Sabbah, famous for having developed a wide variety of Bedouin experiences and activities for tourists, will await us at his camp. The perfect place to enjoy a sip of one of the best teas and to eat an amazing locally prepared meal. The ride will be through desert areas; nevertheless, allow your imagination to go wild on the endless stories from its rich history that are remembered by some hidden treasures from the Abbasid Caliphate.
