The village of Al Shobak is the starting point of this route. It is located around 190km (118 mi) south of Amman, which takes roughly two and a half hours by car.

Al Shobak is eminent for the Shobak Castle, also known as Mont Real. It was built by King Baldwin in 1115 and lasted many battles until its defeat in 1189 by Egypt and Syria's first sultan, Salahuddin Al-Ayyoubi. The castle's features are mindblowing as it is built on top of a hill in the middle of the desert, it has a secret passageway leading to a spring and traces of both Christian carvings and Islamic tablets.

The finishing point is at Little Petra, Al Beidha. The ancient archaeological site is located only 9 kilometers from Wadi Musa, the entry point for the World UNESCO site of Petra. Admittedly, little Petra is a far less visited site compared to Petra; nevertheless, it is a beautiful and peaceful atmosphere worth exploring.
