The ride starts at Karak Castle in Al Karak, a city located 140 km (87 mi) south of Amman. It is one of the cities located along the ancient King's Highway, which has been mentioned in the Bible as it was used as a trading route and nowadays connects the most prominent landmarks in Jordan.

The Karak Castle is found on top of a 1,000-meter (3,300 ft) high hill, surrounded by valleys on three sides. The view goes as far as the Dead Sea and beyond! The impressively large castle was built in the twelfth century to keep an eye on traders and travelers passing by. It is one of the largest crusader castles in the Levant.

Karak used to be a thriving city back in the day; however, nowadays, it is described as fairly quiet, besides the many visitors the castle attracts. A little fun fact, Karak is the birthplace of Jordan's national dish Mansaf, one you must try during your visit!

Wadi al-Hasaa marks the end of the tour. The wadi is a desert valley in the central west of Jordan situated on the border of the Karak and Tafilah governorates. The valley is increasingly popular for hiking and camping as the lush and water-rich environment creates a little weekend getaway paradise. In 1999 the Tannur Dam was built a little bit more upstream; it has a storage capacity of 16.8 million m3 and provides an essential water source for agriculture in the desert area.
